| Official photographers of the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival |
|
As part of our working relationship with festival promoters Sunset Events, we were again asked to take on the ‘official photography’ duties for this years West Coast Blues and Roots festival. Sunset Events always put on a great music festival and this year’s WCBR show was an absolute blast. As usual the Fremantle Esplanade was the venue for the two day event which featured some awesome talent, including Buddy Guy, John Foggerty, Sinead O’Connor, Ray Davies and Don McLean just to name a few. Despite boasting a host of big name artists, it was some of the lesser-known acts that proved to most photogenic. Cat Power ranked among my favourites to shoot, with The Angry Tradesmen, Sugarland, G Love and The Cruel Sea all making some great shots. Although there was two acts I was hanging out to catch Manchester’s main man Ian Brown and rocking four piece The Bellrays. Whilst Mr. Brown’s show was a little disappointing my weekend was completed when The Bellrays blew apart the Crossroads Stage. Some of my other favourites of the weekend were The Basics (Goyte’s other band), Gigantic, Maceo Parker and Keb Mo. For Kelly, Seasick Steve, Jason Mraz, Keb Mo, local lad Matt Gresham and of course Angus and Julia Stone (who she met at Southbound).
